Georgia Diaper Distribution Demonstration and Research Pilot (DDDRP)

2025 Georgia DDDRP

The Georgia Diaper Distribution Demonstration and Research Pilot (DDDRP) provides diapers and essential supplies to families in need while connecting them to support services. This program offers families a critical lifeline, supporting their journey toward health, well-being, and economic self-sufficiency.

Why was this pilot created?
Diapers are vital for the health and well-being of babies and toddlers. However, they can consume up to 8% of the income of individuals earning the federal minimum wage. Many parents cannot access childcare without enough diapers, creating significant barriers to work and education. To address this, the Office of Community Services (OCS), in partnership with the Office of Planning, Evaluation, and Research (OPRE), launched the Diaper Distribution Pilot. This initiative provides funding to expand diaper distribution and connects families to economic mobility and support services, addressing both immediate needs and the root causes of poverty.

What is the goal of GA DDDRP?
The program aims to demonstrate how a collaborative network of community partners, including Community Action Agencies, diaper banks, and social service organizations, can deliver diapers and wraparound services to families, fostering health, well-being, and economic stability.

What are the expected outcomes?

  • Health Benefits: Reduced diaper rash, urinary infections, and emergency visits.
  • Caregiver Support: Increased childcare access, workforce participation, educational opportunities, and family income.
  • Community Growth: Enhanced vitality, reduced unemployment, better school readiness, stronger connections, and sustainable programs.
