2021-2022 Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Heating
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for heating is available to all income eligible households in DeKalb, Gwinnett, Rockdale, Newton, and Walton Counties. This program offers a payment of $350 or $400 once per program year to be applied to your home cooling bill.
Who can apply?
Residents of DeKalb, Gwinnett, Rockdale, Newton, and Rockdale counties that meet income eligibility guidelines as listed below.
When can I apply?
April 1, 2022 for senior citizens and medically homebound households ages 65 and older, and May 2, 2022 for general public households.

What if I miss my appointment?
An Intake Worker will attempt to contact you at the time of your scheduled appointment. If this appointment is missed, we will make three additional attempts to contact you. If contact is still not made, the appointment will be cancelled and you must reschedule a new appointment.
How long does this process take?
Please allow 6-10 weeks for physical payment to be received. We ask that you continue paying your bill as much as possible during this time to prevent disconnection. If you are facing imminent disconnection, additional measures may be taken for eligible accounts to prevent loss of service.
