2023-2024 Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Heating
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for heating is available to all income eligible households in DeKalb, Gwinnett, Rockdale, Newton, and Walton Counties. This program offers a payment once per program year to be applied to your home heating bill.

When can I apply?
All income eligible households may apply for heating assistance beginning January 2, 2024. All appointments are currently booked for the month of December.
How can I apply?
All appointments are fully booked for the month of December. Additional appointments will be available January 2, 2024.

Who can apply?
Households applying in December must be 65 years of age or older. Applicants must be residents of DeKalb, Gwinnett, Rockdale, Newton, and Walton counties who meet income eligibility guidelines listed below. Please note that households are only permitted to receive LIHEAP Heating assistance once per program year.

What should I bring to my appointment?
Please note that all appointments will be done in person. You must bring a valid ID, social security cards for all household members, proof of income for the last 30 days for all household members 18 and older, current heating bill (if applicable), and current electric bill.
What if I miss my appointment?
If you are more than 30 minutes late or miss your appointment, you will need to book a new appointment using our web scheduler.
How long does this process take?
Please allow 6-10 weeks for physical payment to be received. We ask that you continue paying your bill as much as possible during this time to prevent disconnection. If you are facing imminent disconnection, additional measures may be taken for eligible accounts to prevent loss of service.
